Bott Radio Network

July 2007 / Bott Radio Network Celebrates WCRV 20th Anniversary

Dr. Michael Spradlin

WCRV “On the Air” for 20 Years December 15th, 1986 was the birth of something brand new. Bott Radio Network was introduced on that date for the first time in Memphis & the Mid-South over WCRV 640 AM. A celebration luncheon was held at the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary on December 1st, 2006 with many great friends of Bott Radio Network. WCRV General Manager Sunny Caldwell recognized Dr. James D. Whitmire for his faithful service of ministry with a Christian Service Award. Dr. Whitmire led the worship music for over thirty years at Bellevue Baptist Church under Pastor Dr. Adrian Rogers. Byron Tyler, WCRV Program Director presented Pastor Francis Ssebikindu of the Living Water Community Church a Christian Service Award. Pastor Francis, originally from Uganda, has pastored in the inner-city of Memphis for 20 years. He left his homeland due to persecution under the vile dictatorship of Idi Amin. Pastor Francis personally suffered, but was delivered by God’s grace. The late Dr. Francis Schaffer helped him to escape and come to the United States to attend seminary at West Minster. WCRV General Manager Sunny Caldwell also presented an award called “The Proverbs 31 Recognition Award” to three special ladies for their faithful support to their husbands in the ministry. Mrs. Heather Olford wife of the late Dr. Stephen Olford of Encounter Ministries, Mrs. Joyce Rogers wife of the late Dr. Adrian Rogers Pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church and teacher on Love Worth Finding Ministries, and Mrs. Wynette Jones wife of the late Mr. Buck Jones co-founder of Love Worth Finding Ministries and Life Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center. Dr. Michael Spradlin president of the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary spoke from God’s Word on the importance of staying focused in ministry to bring people to Christ. Bott Radio Network Chief Operating Officer Trace Thurlby offered a closing prayer of dedication & thanks to God for the outreach of WCRV. Special music was provided by the Peace Makers. These men are actually full time police officers for the City of Memphis. Bott Radio Network is looking forward to the future in Memphis & the Mid-South with quality Bible teaching & Christian News & Information for all who tune in. Since our sign on 20 years ago in December of 1986 many radio stations in our area have either changed formats or are no longer on the air. Bott Radio Network’s commitment is not changing - We hold high the authority & teaching of God’s Holy Word and will continue on the air until He comes back in the air.
