June 2008 / Bott Radio Network in Fort Wayne helped celebrate the birthday of Norbert the giant tortoise at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo on Wednesday, June 25th

Bott Radio Network staff members in Fort Wayne and their children enjoyed a day at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo where we helped celebrate the birthday of their oldest tortoise Norbert. We were thrilled to meet some of the families who won 8-paks of tickets to the zoo through our on-air ticket giveaway. Kids and parents came to our display table to play games and sign a giant birthday card which was presented to Norbert during his party that afternoon. We enjoyed meeting parents while the kids played our Panda Pitch ring toss game where everyone was a winner! The zoo had games and scavenger hunts throughout the grounds and in spite of a couple of brief thunderstorms, everyone had a great time! The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is one of the area’s major attractions and has been named one of the country’s “Ten Best Zoos for Kids” by Child magazine.

Birthday hats and noise makers decorated the WFCV 1090 AM table as René Bodine, Administrative and Marketing Assistant, and Steven Manning, Control Room Operator, got ready for the zoo to open and the celebration to begin.

Lots of children came for Norbert’s birthday party and lined up at the 1090 AM display area to play “Panda Pitch.” Steven Manning, Control Room Operator, helped one young man play to win a BRN Frisbee!

Guests at the WFCV display table signed a giant birthday card that was presented to Norbert during his party.

Everyone gathered around and sang “Happy Birthday” to Norbert as he enjoyed his fruit and vegetable “birthday cake!”
