February 2009 / Bott Radio Network and Central Nebraskans United for Life Sponsor Alan Keyes in Nebraska February 19th
Dr. Alan Keyes addressed an audience in Hastings, Nebraska, sponsored by BRN and Central Nebraskans for Life. Dr. Keyes’ remarks to the audience began with recounting the very beginning of man told in the book of Genesis. He illustrated how God set human life apart with a sacred charge for the human race to protect it. He pointed to God’s justice and design of the human race… created in the image of God with no individual having a right to take life from another. Keyes said too many Christians misconstrue abortion as the extinction of life alone. While certainly true, he said, “It’s much more than that. It is the taking of a human soul ordained by God for His purpose in this world.” Keyes noted that, “Too often we forget that the word ‘person’ comes from the Greek word ‘persona,’ which means, ‘image of God.’ ” Each person, whether in the womb or outside the womb, is an image of God. Taking life is the destruction of God’s image, reflected in that child and has consequences therein.”
Alan Keyes has been one of the most prolific voices for the rights of the unborn in our day. He was appointed Ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council in the Reagan administration. An outspoken conservative leader, Dr. Keyes served as Assistant Secretary of State for International Affairs and twice secured the Republican Party nomination for U.S. Senate from Maryland. He has run as a candidate for President of the United States in three elections, including 2008. In 2004, he accepted an invitation by the Republican Party of Illinois to present himself as a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the party's Primary winner. He lost the race to then State Senator Barack Obama.
BRN and Central Nebraskans United for Life were pleased that every seat was filled in the banquet room to hear Dr. Keyes’ remarks.
