May 2009 / Bott Radio Network celebrates Back to the Bible’s seventy years of ministry, Friday, May 1st

Bott Radio Network celebrates "Back to the Bible's" seventy years of ministry! Since 1939, God has blessed "Back to the Bible" with ministry opportunities and influence to proclaim the gospel around the globe. Today, "Back to the Bible" hosts more than seventy Bible teachers in over twenty-five languages utilizing every media available to bring God's Word to people each day! "Back to the Bible" marked the occasion of their seventieth anniversary with a day long lecture series on Friday, May 1st, 2009. The day featured presentations by Dr. Norman Geisler, author, Founder & Dean of Southern Evangelical Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina; Dr. Jim Engel, author of Consumer Behavior and member of the Back to the Bible research team, and Dr. Arnie Cole - Back to the Bible CEO & Director of Research & Development for the Center for Bible Engagement. Dr. Woodrow Kroll hosted an evening banquet at Back to the Bible to celebrate Back to the Bible’s rich legacy and vision and how their ministry is working to fulfill this calling in the twenty-first century.

Back to the Bible was founded on May 1st, 1939 with the first local radio broadcast of Theodore Epp, a young Oklahoma preacher who came to Lincoln, Nebraska, with a vision, sixty-five dollars in his pocket and the Lord as his partner. He received his first taste of radio preaching in Goltry, Oklahoma, before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, to establish the "Back to the Bible" radio broadcast. When his first radio program aired, his vision was to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

The (CBE) Center for Bible Engagement was founded by Back to the Bible in 2003 to develop tools to engage the body of Christ in the Word. CBE conducted over 40,000 surveys to understand why so many people own Bibles, but neglect to read them. The findings were a part of the focus of a lecture series concerning the role of the Bible in America during Back to the Bible’s 70th Anniversary events, May 1st, 2009. “We are in a crisis mode. If we do nothing it could easily mean the death of any biblical expression of Christianity in the twenty-first century. We are that close. But Back to the Bible is about solutions,” - Dr. Woodrow Kroll. Back to the Bible shared plans being implemented in response to the research. One such plan is called “411 God,” a daily dose of scripture via cell phone or email. 411 God debuted nationally January 23rd and currently has over 6,200 members.
