
January 2011 / Bott Radio Network Supports the Missouri Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, Wednesday, January 5th
The Governor’s Prayer Breakfast was held Wednesday, January 5th, 2011, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, Missouri. The theme was selected by Governor Jay Nixon, “God is our Refuge and our Strength” and there were close to 800 in attendance. The purpose of the breakfast was for our elected officials to seek God and His will as a bi-partisan effort to work together for the good of our state at the beginning of the new session. Sue Stoltz, Area Manager for Bott Radio Network in Mid-Missouri, hosted a table, and her guests are sponsors of BRN.
Captain Mike Roberts, Missouri National Guard, and chief meteorologist at KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, presided as the Master of Cermonies. Pastor Doyle Sager of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, gave the invocation and call to worship. Special Music was provided by the Jefferson City High School Chorale. First Scripture Reading by State Representative Jake Zimmerman, District 83, from St. Louis.
Intercessory Prayer by Senator Rob Mayer, Senate President Pro Tem, District 25 from Dexter; Representative Steven Tilley-Speaker District 106, Perryville, Representative Mike Talboy, District 37, Kansas City and Representative Jeanie Riddle, District 20, Mokane.
Second Scripture Reading by Senator Robin Wright-Jones, District 5, St. Louis.
The Governor’s Remarks and introduction of the keynote speaker by the Honorable Jay Nixon.
Keynote Speaker Mel Tjeerdsma is a four-time national coach of the year honoree, and in December 2010 was one of three coaches inducted as the first coaches into the Division II Football Hall of Fame. He is in his 17th season at Northwest Missouri State University and 27th as a collegiate head coach.
“God Bless America” was sung solo by Amanda Riley. Benediction by Pastor Scott Musselman, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson City.
